Mentees
A mentor can be one of the most important people in a young person’s life. Just having someone who cares about your future can impact you in the classroom and beyond. The COPE Project can provide you with this. We match qualified, caring adults with area youth, empowering them to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their potential. Mentees receive optimum support and guidance through a great network of community members.
Mentee Role
• Receive ongoing, one-on-one support from a positive role model and friend
• Plan and participate in activities with a mentor
• Set goals and work toward accomplishing them
Time Commitment
• Make a one-year commitment
• Spend a minimum of bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with a mentor
• Attend an initial two-hour training session and additional sessions two times during one year participation in the program
• Attend optional mentor/mentee group events and program recognition events
Participation Requirements
• Be 4-18 years old
• Reside in Ascension Parish or Baton Rouge metro area
• Complete the application process
• Attend mentee sessions as prescribed
• Be willing to communicate regularly with program staff
