“The COPE Project has been a wonderful, experience for my grand-daughter. Since both of her parents are incarcerated, I wanted my grand-daughter to see first-hand that there are positive role model adults in our community. The COPE Project has shown her that others care about her and are willing to spend quality time with her. My grand-daughter and I have enjoyed all activities sponsored by the COPE Project; the Awards Banquet, garage sale, car wash, skating and pizza night. Everyone involved with the COPE Project has shown my grand- daughter that they truly care about her and her future.” – R. Wheat (Caregiver)
“My experiences with the COPE Project have been wonderful so far, and the program has helped me to better myself as a person. One of my most memorable moments while being a part of The COPE Project was when my mentor took me shopping with her for the day. The Recognition Ceremony was also awesome! Everything was so neat and I loved the award that I received. I hope to, by being in the program, gain faith in myself as a person.” – A. Holder (Mentee)
“I’ve really enjoyed meeting and interacting with my mentee. We have canoed, hiked, and played ping pong regularly. He considers me to be fun to be with, and I feel that I’m a good influence on him.” – M. Veasman (Mentor)
“My experience with the program is great. I love my mentor. He is the best. We do a lot of things. Some things we do are go to church, go out and eat, and just have fun. So, that is why I think the COPE Project is great!” – E. Smith (Mentee)
“Mentors offer great support and advice. It’s great that my mentee has begun to open up. We also participate in field trips and school activities.” – R. Brown (Mentor)
